Río Negro

Located at the heart of Patagonia, the province of Río Negro borders on the Republic of Chile and Neuquén to the West, on La Pampa and Buenos Aires to the North, on Chubut to the South and on the Argentine Sea to the East.
This is a province whose relief is presented as a plateau, crossed by two large rivers framing it from East to West: the Colorado and the Negro Rivers. The capital of the province is the city of Viedma

Its main cities are:

  • San Carlos de Bariloche
  • El Bolsón
  • Cipolletti
  • San Antonio Oeste
  • Las Grutas

The average annual temperature in this region of the country stands between 10º and 14° C. Rainfalls vary from East to West.
The economy of the province is concentrated in fruit production, the exploitation of hydrocarbons and tourism. In the last few years, important fruit crops have developed in the Andean area. Río Negro, like most Patagonian provinces, combines sea, rivers, lakes and mountain range, which makes it very attractive for tourists, both in the winter and in the summer.
Its destinations are specially prepared to welcome international tourism. Winter is the best season to practice snow sports in its famous ski resort, Catedral Alta Patagonia, the largest in South America.

In the center of the province, an interesting mining tourist excursion can be taken in the area of Sierra Grande, whereas the temperate ocean currents coming from Brazil, ideal for the practice of scuba diving or water sports, can be enjoyed on the shores of the Atlantic.
