On the South of the Province of Mendoza, with Mapuche legacy and Criollo traditions, lies Malargüe.
Located 189 km away from San Rafael and 421 from the capital of the province, it borders on the Province of Neuquén to the South, on San Rafael department to the East and on the Republic of Chile to the West. It has the longest frontier border in Mendoza. The main entrance to this region is through the local airport, situated 70 km from downtown.
The weather is temperate and dry. Summers are variable between temperate and cool, whereas Winters are cold with snowfalls increasing towards the West.
